Our communities

Our focus for charitable giving is on education, particularly around digital skills and inclusion, given our sector. We support our communities through:

Volunteering – everyone gets a volunteering day each year
Local charity partnerships – led by passionate employees in each of our offices
Matched funding – to support employees with their own fundraising
Tech donations – laptop and phone donations to good causes.

We’re proud of Phoenix’s position as a STEM Ambassadors Partner and member of the National Cyber Security Centre’s CyberFirst programme, which unlocks opportunities and fosters economic empowerment by inspiring students to take IT GCSEs and consider technology careers.

In 2025/26, this outreach work included partnering with Developing the Young Workforce, a Scottish organisation connecting employers with education so young people develop workplace skills.

Race for a reason

Combining adventure with purpose, 30 Phoenix employees embarked on a four-day race through the Benelux region, using only public transport. Based on the BBC television series, Race Across the World, Phoenix’s Race for a Reason saw the ten three-person teams striving to reach a dozen checkpoints scattered across the cities and countryside of Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.

The ‘reason’ for the unique race event was to raise money and awareness for St Leonard’s Hospice in York, Phoenix’s chosen charity partner for 2025/26. Phoenix fully funded the event, and the prizes, so St Leonard’s received every penny of the more than £20,000 raised.

We have a long track record of volunteering our time and giving money in areas where we work. In doing so, we’re creating stronger communities.

Volunteering

Our people get involved in a wide range of volunteering activities. In 2025/26 people across Bytes and Phoenix volunteered more than 2,000 hours of their time.

Fundraising

Many of our employees raise money in their own time, and we support their efforts through matched funding programmes.

Donating

As a company we also make financial and technology donations to causes our people care about, including schools, animal charities and organisations helping the most vulnerable in society.

Giving our time to help others

Bytes has been closely connected with the Wildlife Aid Foundation for a number of years, with several employees working as committed volunteers for the charity – its office and rescue site are minutes from Bytes’s Head Office in Leatherhead. In 2025 a more recognised partnership was created, with events taking place during the year, including fundraising bake sales, educational presentations from Wildlife Aid staff and volunteering day opportunities, which included building a much-needed new fox pen.
