FTSE4Good

In July 2025, Bytes Technology Group (BTG) achieved a new milestone in its sustainability journey with confirmation of its inclusion in the FTSE4Good Index Series. Created by the global index and data provider FTSE Russell, the FTSE4Good Index Series is designed to measure the performance of companies demonstrating strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices.

For BTG, a leading provider of IT solutions and services, this recognition not only validates its progress but also underscores the growing importance of responsible business in the technology sector.

Why FTSE4Good matters

The FTSE4Good indices serve as a trusted guide for investors seeking to align portfolios with companies committed to sustainable and ethical growth. It provides an independent measure of how organisations are performing against ESG criteria across three pillars:

  • Environmental impact – including carbon emissions, energy efficiency, and climate strategies.
  • Social responsibility - from workplace practices and community engagement to supply chain standards.
  • Governance – assessing transparency, accountability, and shareholder rights.

A record of progress

Sustainability, responsibility and strong governance are at the core of BTG’s strategy. The company has committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040, with key SBTi validated interim goals including:

  • a 60% reduction in Scope 1 emissions by 2030,
  • a 50% reduction in Scope 3 emissions by 2030, and
  • maintaining a 100% reduction in Scope 2 emissions by 2028 through renewable electricity procurement.

Both Bytes Software Services and Phoenix Software hold ISO 14001 certification, with performance tracked through quarterly reviews and annual greenhouse gas reporting. Other sustainability initiatives include the rollout of an EV salary sacrifice scheme, delivery of a carbon literacy programme, and the installation of solar panels at Phoenix Software’s headquarters.

BTG’s ESG commitment extends beyond sustainability to people and communities. We don’t just celebrate our people - we also invest in them. The Group invests in apprenticeships, supporting the development of future digital skills, while initiatives such as the Race For a Reason charity event raised over £20,000 for St Leonard’s Hospice in 2025. That’s why BTG has also been named a Top 50 UK Best Workplace by Great Place to Work, a UK’s Best Workplace in Tech, and recognised for Wellbeing, Women in Tech, and Leadership Excellence.

Looking ahead

For employees, customers, and investors alike, FTSE4Good inclusion provides assurance that BTG is committed to responsible growth in a world where ESG considerations are central to long-term success. For us, ESG is not about compliance alone – it is about shaping a sustainable, inclusive and resilient future. The Group will continue to set clear sustainability targets, share progress transparently, and collaborate with partners to drive change across the wider technology ecosystem.
